New Road’s curriculum
At New Road Preschool, we are following the Development Matters Framework. We provide a top-level plan of everything we hope for the children to learn. The curriculum is carefully planned to help every child build their learning over time and too each child’s ability. Young children’s learning is best achieved with a careful blend of their individual interest and flexible planned activities by the adults.
The planning is brough in by all the staff and children and also allows for seasonal activities, celebrations, and events. We also arrange outings, subject to permission from parents and there is always plenty of notice given and extra adults to accompany the group. Information around the children’s interests and their learning and what they have been enjoying is regularly posted on tapestry. During activities and play your child’s learning and development will be observed, recorded, and assessed in these seven areas of development. Next steps go out to parents each half term to support the child at home as well as at preschool.
New Road preschool strongly believe that children’s communication is very important. We have a book a week with a few key words which we support in the children’s play during their day. These words are used by the staff repeating them. The book is read to the children for the week supported by activities planned by the staff.
